World History Week of Jan 29-Feb 2

Day 1
1. Building of the Great Pyramid  video questions/grade
2. Keep the video questions and REVIEW.  The facts will be a part of the chapter test/plus points
3. Practiced drawing and labeling the Nile River Valley map.
4. Building the Great Pyramid Narrative/Journal Entry. Directions on the handout were explained in
    class.
    Due Day 3. (Period 1 will get the handout on Wed)
4. Homework: Review video questions and map

Day 2
1. Review: Great Pyramid video questions
2. Textbook: p. 146-151. Read for content/big picture. Use red/blue headings to guide your
    reading and understanding.  Keep in mind the assessment questions on p. 151 as you read.
    We will be answering them after we finish highlighting the Section topics.
3. Video: Overview of the three historical periods of Egypt (5 min.) Add three capitals to your
     map.  Memphis, Thebes and Alexandria.
4. Homework: Review all the material described in Day 1 and 2

Day 3
1. Review: Great Pyramid video questions and map of  Egypt.
2. Textbook: p. 150-151. Scan the Egyptian Religion section. Look for key words in each paragraph.
    Make connections, layer information.  Done as a class.
3.  Begin the Egyptian Book of the Dead History Channel video Part I.
4.  Make a Who, What, Where, When, Why foldable to take video notes. Part two on Day 4.
5.  Collect The Great Pyramid  Narrative/ Journal Entry.

Day 4.
1. Continue Book of the Dead video Part II.
2. Continue to take notes on foldable.
3.  Homework: review all the material described in Day 1 and Day 2

Geography Week of Jan 20-Feb. 2

Day 1
1. Recapped meaning of geography
2. Read with partner Ch 1 The Geographer's World/Lesson 1 How Geographers View the World
3. Given a Guided Reading Activity for Lesson 1 Due Day 2
4. Homework: None

Day 2
1. Recap Day 1 reading of Lesson 1.  Finish reading lesson.
2. Lesson 1 Guided Reading Handout.  Due Day 3
3. Watch video examples of spatial thinking
4. Homework: None

Day 3
1. Correct and turn in Lesson 1 Guided Reading Handout
2. Work on Spatial Thinking activities handout with partner

Geography - Week of Jan 22-26

Day 1
1. Intro. to the class
2. Students wrote three paragraphs about the following:
    a. What does the word Geography mean to you?
    b. What countries other that the U.S. does your family come from?
    c. If you could visit any country in the world that you have not been to before, where would
        it be and why?
3. Due at the end of class.

Day 2
1. Watched a video called The Mysteries of the Nile to explore the different facets of
    geography.
2. We will be discussing it and answering some questions tomorrow in class.

Day 3
1. Recapped the video Mysteries of the Nile
2. Wrote a three reaction paragraph with details about the film.  Turned in
3. Homework: None

Day 4
1. Geography textbooks passed out (these are classroom copies)
2. Worked on a What Do You Know (about Geography) handout and corrected
3.  Looked at the textbook Atlas and discussed different types of maps.
4.  Homework: None

History- Week of Jan 22-26

Day 1
1.  Discussed the Geography Bee
2. Began the  preliminary process to be ready for the Bee on Friday Jan 26
3. Homework: Students will be having a Quiz over the Nile River Valley map and questions, and
    over Textbook pages 154-155:  The Pyramids  on Day 4 of this week.

Day 2
1. The Building of the Great Pyramid video Part I
2. Listening/watching points given
3. Homework: Study for the Quiz on Day 4 of this week (details on Day 1)

Day 3
1. Geo Bee Elimination rounds
2. Homework: study for the Quiz described in Day 1

World History Week of Jan 16-19

Day 1
1. Take Ch 3 Test over Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4
2. Textbook  p. 141-143 Read about Hatshepsut , a New Kingdom pharaoh/queen.
     Be ready to answer some questions about what you read.
3. HW: Read about Hatshepsut if you weren't able to do it in class.

Day 2
1. Ch 4 / Sect. 1 study guide for The Nile River Valley (p. 144-145)
2. Watched a short Egypt Geo YouTube video.
3. A QUIZ over this section will be given on Day 4 of next week (Jan. 25/26)
4. Homework: Finish the study guide. We will check it Day 3 and you will work on transferring the
    information to a prepared map.

Day 3
1. Check the Nile River Valley study guide answers and self correct.
2. Pass out prepared and blank map of the Nile. Label all the features on the study guide on the
    map.
3. Check the key to make sure all the features are where they should be!
4. HW: Review your study guide and map for the QUIZ over Ch. 4/Section 1 Day 4, Jan 25/26


Health Week of Jan. 16-19

Day 1
1. Quizzes over the body systems handed back
2. Discussed The Truth About Sugar YouTube video watched as homework over the weekend.
3. You turned in the reaction paragraph that you wrote about the video.
4. Watched a Ted Talk short video about hidden sugars/Discussed
5. Passed out a Sugar/What they are, Where they are found and What they do handout
6. Homework: Check cupboards at home and write down at least 5 products, serving size
    and sugar grams per serving.  Be ready to share with class on Day 2.

Day 2
1. You shared the homework assignment results with a partner/discussed in class
2. Introduced Proteins by watching a short YouTube video/discussed
3. Reading worksheet for Lesson 1 p. 4-5 passed out. 
4. Do numbers 1-8 ONLY!
5. We will finish the worksheet on Day 3 by focusing on Amino Acids.
6. Homework: Lesson 1/ Proteins p. 4-5 questions 1-8

Day 3 (Last Health class)
1. Protein worksheet: Discuss and complete Amino Acids
2. Discuss Lesson 1: Carbohydrates
3. Sample foods that represent Proteins and Carbs
4. Turn in all work

2. Lesson 3 Circulatory and Respiratory Systems
HW: Read and highlight the main ideas and facts for the
 Digestive/Excretory and Endocrine/Reproductive Symstems

Day 4
Open book quizzes over the following body systems:
1. Lesson 4: Digestive and Excretory Systems
2. Lesson 5: Endocrine and Reproductive Systems
3. Begin watching The Truth About Sugar - New Documentary 2015 (Science Fiction Documentary)
    found on Youtube
 HW: Finish watching the documentary and write a response paragraph.  Include but don't limit yourself to what writing about what you watched, what new information you learned and how the information given will affect your life, or what kind of changes you can make.
Due Day 1 next week.
